Continuing a week at sea, between Master and Commander and sleeping on the raft of the medusa..... Alas, this was a disappointment. Not quite I'd rather be shipwrecked than watch, but it was more or less a movie about CG effects than anything else. I believe the plot got caught in a maelstrom somewhere and sank to the bottom of what I guess is now Will Turner's locker. Crossing, doublecrossing, triple and quadruple crossing, and the release of Calypso that went nowhere.... though the five minutes of Jack Sparrow in Davy Jones' locker with the Black Pearl with the crab rocks is the most surreal bit of mainstream filmmaking since Head was released (which also had Davy Jones in it, hah! And if I recall, though I haven't seen it for twenty years, I think jokes are made about Davy's locker), and makes it almost worth getting from Netflix.
